More about Latuda

This medication is used to treat certain mental/mood disorders (such as schizophrenia, depression associated with bipolar disorder). Lurasidone helps you to think more clearly, feel less nervous, and take part in everyday life. It may also help to decrease hallucinations (hearing/seeing things that are not there). In addition, this medication may improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level. Lurasidone is a psychiatric medication that belongs to the class of drugs called atypical antipsychotics. It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain.
Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start taking lurasidone and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Take this medication by mouth with food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. The dosage is based on your medical condition, response to treatment, age, and other medications you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. Continue taking this medication exactly as prescribed, even if you are feeling better and thinking more clearly. Do not increase your dose or take this drug more often than prescribed. Your symptoms will not improve any faster, and your risk of side effects will increase. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless your doctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit can increase the chance of side effects with this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens. It may take several weeks before you feel the full benefit of this medication.
See also Warning section. Drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, shaking, weight gain, mask-like facial expression, inability to keep still, and agitation may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Your doctor may order another medication to lessen these effects. This medication may cause a serious drop in blood pressure, especially when starting this medication. Dizziness and lightheadedness can increase the risk of falling. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if any of these serious side effects occur: drooling/trouble swallowing, fainting, interrupted breathing during sleep. Infrequently, this medication may cause face/muscle twitching and uncontrollable movements (tardive dyskinesia). In some cases, this condition may be permanent. Tell your doctor right away if you develop any uncontrollable movements such as lip smacking, mouth puckering, tongue thrusting, chewing, or unusual arm/leg movements. This drug may rarely make your blood sugar rise, which can cause or worsen diabetes. Weight gain from this drug may increase the risk of this side effect. Tell your doctor right away if you have symptoms of high blood sugar such as increased thirst/urination. If you already have diabetes, check your blood sugar regularly as directed and share the results with your doctor. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication, exercise program, or diet. This medication may also cause a rise in your blood fat levels (cholesterol and triglycerides). These increases, along with diabetes and weight gain, may increase your risk for developing heart disease. Discuss the risks and benefits of treatment with your doctor. In rare cases, lurasidone may increase your level of a certain substance made by the body (prolactin). For females, this increase in prolactin may result in unwanted breast milk, missed/stopped periods, or difficulty becoming pregnant. For males, it may result in decreased sexual ability, inability to produce sperm, or enlarged breasts. If you develop any of these symptoms, tell your doctor right away. Rarely, males may have a painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 or more hours. If this occurs, stop using this drug and get medical help right away, or permanent problems could occur. Get medical help right away if this serious side effect occurs: seizure. This medication may rarely cause a very serious condition called neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). Get medical help right away if you have any of the following symptoms: fever, muscle stiffness/pain/tenderness/weakness, severe tiredness, severe confusion, sweating, fast/irregular heartbeat, dark urine, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine). A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: fever, swollen lymph nodes, rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. In the US - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or at www.fda.gov/medwatch. In Canada - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to Health Canada at 1-866-234-2345.

Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor's approval. Other medications can affect the removal of lurasidone from your body, which may affect how lurasidone works. Examples include cobicistat, diltiazem, azole antifungals (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole), certain HIV/hepatitis C virus protease inhibitors (such as boceprevir, ritonavir), macrolide antibiotics (such as clarithromycin), rifamycins (such as rifampin, rifabutin), telithromycin, antidepressants (such as fluoxetine, paroxetine, nefazodone), among others. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other products that cause drowsiness such as opioid pain or cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone), alcohol, marijuana (cannabis), drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants (such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), or antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine). Check the labels on all your medicines (such as allergy or cough-and-cold products) because they may contain ingredients that cause dizziness or drowsiness. Ask your pharmacist about using those products safely.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled a list of commonly asked questions for your convenience. If you are unable to find the answer to your question, please contact us for further assistance. It's just one more way UPRx prioritizes your self-care.

If you are one of half of the US population who benefits from taking prescription drugs, then UPRx is for you. We offer cash medication so you can…

• Bypass high insurance copays.
• Order with complete discretion.
• Purchase without insurance policy limitations and restrictions.
• Have access to lower priced medications
• Order your medication without insurance
• Avoid the hassle of going to the pharmacy to fill your prescriptions.

If any of the above sound as awesome to you as they do to us, we can safely say that UPRx is the alternative for you.
In order to fulfill your order we will need a corresponding prescription. However, if you don’t already have one we can help you with that! We have partnered with a third-party Telehealth company, providing online consultations with US licensed doctors, for a $5 fee.
We make it easy! All we require is contact information for your pharmacy or doctor’s office, and we will take care of transferring your prescription over for you. If you do not have an existing prescription, you can talk to one of our online physicians now and they can submit a prescription directly into our system for you.
UPRx.com offers both generic and brand-name prescription medications. The generic versions are generally significantly cheaper than the brand name version of a drug. However, please consult with your doctor to find out which variation of any specific drug is best for you.
With the exception of our products’ pricing and our third- party Telehealth service, the use of our website and services are completely cost-free.
After your order is placed, UPRx will retrieve your valid prescription from your doctor or pharmacy. Once the prescription is confirmed as authorized and corresponding to your order, our participating pharmacy begins to process your order. Depending on the specific drug and location, we can ship out some products as soon as same day, and we commit to shipping out all products within 48 hours of verifying your prescription.
Our site does not support insurance at this time, as we are focusing our efforts on getting you the best cash price. You may not know this, but there are some instances where it’s significantly cheaper to pay cash for a medication rather than to order it through your insurer’s pharmacy benefits program. Here at UPRx, we cut out the middleman and do the negotiating for you- providing you with the same drugs, for less pay.
Nothing should stand in the way of you getting the drugs you need to feel and perform your best. UPRx orders arrive in discreet packaging, because your health is personal, and should remain that way.
UPRx operates under strict HIPAA compliance laws and regulations to ensure that your privacy is paramount.
UPRx is fully registered and operates in multiple locations across the United States of America. Our partner pharmacy, Apogee BioPharm is licensed and operated in all 50 states and territories. At UPRx we are committed to only purchasing locally sourced items and products. When UPRx obtains your medical information while acting on your behalf, we will maintain the privacy and security of that information in accordance with the standards of the HIPAA security regulations.
